READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles’ Second Album TWICE UNCONFIRMED LP Apple Labels 1970 SCARCE, EX!

There are two unconfirmed characteristics to this LP’s labels.

The first is the label variation which until recently was thought not to exist at all.  “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer was only supposed to have been reserved for newly-recorded titles by The Beatles and Apple artists.  All the great books on the subject still say that these labels don’t exist.  I’ve verified that the entire catalogue does exist, and from one pressing plant only, which is the Winchester plant.

But secondly, as some collectors can tell you, there was an error on the Side 2 label, where the track “Long Tall Sally” was gifted with an extra numeral “2,” listing the song’s songwriting credits as another song.  This error is commonly found on the 1971 Apple pressing with the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer at the bottom of the Side 1 label.

A particularly scarce variation of this error can be found on the Side 2 label that has the “Subsidiary of…” text.

But to find the error on an unconfirmed copy is almost unheard of.  Almost, because you’ve now heard of it.

**This copy isn’t NM, but it’s still a very nice, clean copy.  No upgrade will be needed.

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Both sides have only a few very light hairline scratches.  Each side shines 90 to 95% brand new.

Plates--- R7/W8.  Hand-etched Delta symbol (or rifle) in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Winchester.

Cover--- EX.  Front slick still shows the cream-colored graphics that usually homogenize with the white borders over time.  Light dirtwear at the top.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Labels--- EX/EX.  Both labels look clean and brand new, with the exceptions of a few short and light spindle marks per side.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX. Generic white inner sleeve with die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Light to moderate yellowing, and that’s it.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

**Think this is going to be an easy one to track down?  Start now if you pass on this one.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
