Description

Vinyl condition:  EX- (minus)/ VG+

Side 1 plays very well with some light surface noise during She's Leaving Home and on other tracks there is occasional light noise.  Side 2 has some light surface noise on some tracks including Within You and Without You and When I'm Sixty Four.  There is some surface noise noticeable during the long exit note at the end of 'A Day in the Life'.

There is a nice shine to both sides and a few hairline scratches on both sides visible only when held up to strong light.  There are a few light scratches on both sides but they are very small (perhaps 2 or 3 mm in length. I have never seen a Sergeant Pepper early press  which is visually as good as this.

Matrices: YEX 637-1 (MML (raised L) at 3'oclock)/ YEX 638-1 ( MAP at 3'oclock)

Sleeve condition: VG- (minus)  The laminate is in nice condition with a nice shine front and back.

Front: More Detail: There are 6 laminate cracks to the right hand side. 4 of these are around 2cm in length and are curved. There is one around 3cm in length at the edge and one more running over Diana Dors' body (the mind boggles) around 4 to 5cm in length

Back: More Detail: There is one laminate crack towards the top left edge around 4 cm in length (curved).  There is some light to medium ring- wear.

There is a little minor laminate cracking towards the edges of the front and back covers which is normal for laminate sleeves of this age.

Gatefold Inside: (Beatles Photo): There was a little 'sticking' on opening the gatefold (see photos of flipback edges at top). The laminate condition is Excellent with none of the issues mentioned with cracking etc on the front cover.  The inner spine laminate area has cracked (and can be felt from top to bottom) which again is often seen in records of this age.

Overall VG- (minus) is I think is a fair grading taking into account the sleeve defects.

The spine and edges are EX with no wear or splitting etc.

Medals Card:  EX . The card is complete with nothing cut out. There is slight yellowing to one edge (as seen from the back non- printed side).

Inner sleeve: The sleeve is white with a poly inner liner (probably a replacement).

All vinyl is audio tested with a direct drive Hitachi record player (1970's vintage strobe).  Vinyl has been vacuum cleaned with HANSS Acoustics cleaning system prior to the audio test.

All gradings follow closely the Record Collector system.

Seller is a professional dealer in the North East Lincolnshire area (trading since late 2013).

Postage: the item will be packed between  2 card stiffeners and a brown record mailer to minimise any damage in transit.  Other postage options can be selected by the buyer but any extra cost will be borne by the buyer.
