Beatles Sgt. Pepper LP First Pressing British Parlophone LP VG

(For those of us who have a bit of fun with the “Paul is Dead” clues, one of my favorites appears on this front cover.  Taking the drum, cutting-and-pasting the top half and flipping it, and aligning it to the bottom half of the drum, the following appears:  “[One X] He Die.”  And the symbol between “He” and “Die” is an arrow.  Look who it’s pointing to.  See the last photo.)

Vinyl---The vinyl on both sides is a solid and respectable VG.  Both sides are covered in very fine scratches, none of which you can feel.  There are no skips, and maybe an occasional pop or two over the course of the entire program.  Vinyl plays back with light to moderate surface noise, which means that when the music starts, it disappears.  However, it will be present during the quiet passages.  This LP would be a very good candidate for a VPI cleaning.  All the punchiness and sound clarity of a first pressing Parlophone LP is still present, and a good remoisturizing of the vinyl should eliminate a good percentage of the surface noise.

Labels---Both labels are very clean, and they each do have a moderate amount of spindle marks clearly visible.  The side 2 label has the ghost of a price sticker, which is flat against the surface, and has no tackiness.  Both labels include the tax code information.

Cover---(Please Note: The white mark above Paul's head on the back cover is a reflection, and does NOT appear on the cover!) Front and back covers still retain about 90% of their gloss.  A minor amount of dulling has occurred.  There are minute hairline scratches which only appear under a bare bulb.  There are some light wrinkles and very minor bubbling of the laminate around the cover’s edges.  The inside gatefold is sweet!  Looks amazingly close to 1967 brand new. 

The outer spine is a question mark for me.  “The Beatles” is missing from the spine, and not having another first pressing cover to compare it to, I don’t know whether they were all printed that way.  But something tells me I don’t think so.  I seem to remember seeing other copies in other collections with “The Beatles” on the spine.  Also, there is some center dirt to the spine.

This copy is missing the red gradient sleeve.  I have provided a generic white paper sleeve for the LP’s protection.
