THE BEATLES - 'SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'

1967 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP

We have just been commissioned to sell a large and important private collection of UK Beatles records. The majority of listings presented this week are from that collection, with more to follow over the coming weeks. The collection contains some of the rarest UK pressed discs which are unlikely to come onto the open market again in the forseeable future.

This 1967 UK 1st UK MONO pressing is on the familiar yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 7027

The side 1 label bears a genuine red & white 'FACTORY SAMPLE - NOT FOR SALE' sticker.

Both labels also include the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

A 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 1 centre hole.

Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1

Stamper codes: 3/OR & 4/MO

Disc weight: 139g

Housed in a fully laminated, inner-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with a 'regular' width spine.

Complete with a black & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve and unused cut-out sheet.

Labels: EXCELLENT

A clean & unblemished pair with minimal wear to the centre holes and no marks, writing or missing paper.

Visual: VERY GOOD -

Both playing surfaces are clean but bear several light surface marks and one deep/feelable scratch, located right at the end of the final track on side 1. Close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals some light hairline scratches consistent with frequent play but no further major faults.

Play: VERY GOOD -

This copy has been played may times but there is no major deterioration to the sound quality throughout. The only significant signs of wear I heard during my single careful play check at volume was some light background on 'She's Leaving Home' and a jump at the end of 'Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite', due to the aforementioned scratch.

Cover

VERY GOOD -

Clean & fully intact but a little tired with general handling and storagewear. All panels, inside & out are clean with the only major wear being on the spine where the laminate has worn away, together with some of the text.
