THE BEATLES - 'SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
This superb sounding & scarce UK MONO pressing of their legendary 1967 album dates from October 1969.
It is on the short-lived black & silver '1-EMI-box' Parlophone mono label: PMC 7027
Both labels bear 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd...' worded rims & 'Made in Gt. Britain' text
Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1
Stamper codes: 2/MOG & 01/MOA
Vinyl weight: 144g
Housed in a fully laminated, inner-flipover 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed gatefold cover.
This rare hybrid mono/stereo cover bears mono AND stereo catalogue numbers in the upper right corner of the rear panel.
Complete with its unused cut-out sheet & original 'Patent No. 1,125,555' inner-sleeve.

A 1st-class set with some light spindle trails, mostly around the side 2 centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Extremely clean & unworn playing surfaces which bear little more than some harmless inner-sleeve removal marks strong daylight but no sign of any scratches whatsoever. Closer inspection directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp does nothing more than highlight these minor blemishes, adding only a sparkling rainbow shine.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +
Arguably the best sounding 1960's mono pressing, this copy has received just careful play on good quality equipment and consequently the sound retains its warmth & quality. My single careful play-check at volume detected no trace of any groove/playwear on any track or either channel - even on the delicate 'She's Leaving Home'. The only noticeable background was on the final fade-out of the piano chord of 'Day In The Life', but there is little else to fault on this great sounding copy.
Cover: EXCELLENT
This rare cover is clean & fully intact with light handling & storagewear but no major faults.
The front panel is richly coloured & unfaded with just three small 'thumbnail' wrinkles and a light storage rubbing to the high-gloss laminate. There is a little of shelfwear to the corners but no heavy bumps or bruising to any. The rear panel with again, slight storage rubbing along with a bend towards the lower left corner and slight opening edge wear.
The inside of the gatefold is clean & unmarked. The rear panel is as clean as the front with two 'thumbnail' wrinkles and a bend in the lower left corner. There is a 2cm stress to the lower seam of the front pocket but no wear to any of the others.
The spine is fully laminated along its entire length with an unworn text.
