THE BEATLES - 'SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
This superb 1st UK MONO pressing dates from the album's initial June 1967 release on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7027
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK....' text and 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd...' worded rims.
The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1
Stamper codes: 3/ATA & 7/MRT

Housed within a fully laminated, inner-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed gatefold mono cover with a regular width spine.
Complete with its original red & white 'The Fool' designed inner-sleeve & MINT/unused dark green cut-out sheet.

A superb set showing just two or three well-aimed spindle trails around each completely unworn centre hole.
Visual: NEAR MINT
Pristine 'as new' playing surfaces which retain 100% of their factory-fresh deep-gloss shine and are completely unmarked in strong daylight with just a few barely visible harmless wispy paper hairlines consistent with inner-sleeve removal & a sparkling rainbow shine visible directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp. Both side of this remarkable disc lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: MINT
Played just two or three times at most on high-end equipment, the sound quality on this superb copy is wonderful & totally flawless. My single careful play-check at volume found absolutely no evidence of any groove/play on any track or in either channel or a single click, pop or tick anywhere. Even the easily worn 'She's Leaving Home' plays perfectly and there is even no interference on the fade-out of the final piano chord. You will not need to upgrade this LP or be disappointed by the incredible sound quality of this copy.
Cover: EXCELLENT
A clean & strong example of this iconic cover which retains a richly coloured, unfaded high-gloss front panel bearing only two small 'thumbnail' wrinkles towards the front opening edge but no spine bends or storage rubbing/scratching. There is a small bump to the upper left corner and a touch of shelfwear rubbing to the lower right but no wear or damage to any opening edge. The rear panel is as fine as the front and is free from any 'thumbnail's' or creasing of any kind and all seams of both pockets are smooth, unstressed & unsplit.
The inside of the gatefold is bright, clean & unblemished with no damage to either flipover.
The spine has been folded slightly off-centre at manufacture and the laminate is fully intact and unsplit along the entire length.
Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD +
Flat & uncreased with the only significant wear being some foxing in the white areas but no writing, tears or seam splits.
