READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles’ Story 1969 2-LP “Subsidiary of…” TOUGHEST LA Title of the Run, EX!
(Little Note: I’ll be taking next week off in order to compile and file my taxes, just FYI. Thanks!)
Of all of the titles in the “Subsidiary of…” run, “The Beatles’ Story” has always been the most elusive. Must not have been in very high demand by 1969.
By far, when you do happen to find a copy, it will be from the Scranton plant. This copy is the rarer LA pressing of the rarest title of the run, and it’s a very nice copy!
Vinyl--- EX/EX. EX/EX. Each side shines like it’s brand new, but with just one or two flaws. They’re either just very light angel hairs that are hard to pick up, or they’re manufacturer’s defects that are also light and won’t affect play.
Plates--- A3/A3. A3/A3. This entire run was refreshed halfway through. You either get W or X plates, or A or B plates, with an H thrown in, just to make you crazy.
Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.
Cover--- VG+. Light wear inside and out, but nothing ugly. Light ringwear, dirtwear. Back cover has a stain at the very bottom where the factories are listed. All seams and spine are still pretty strong. Some loss of slick, NO SPLIT SEAMS.
Gatefold--- VG+. Light dulling, yellowing. Center seam is strong, NO SPLITS.
Labels--- NM/NM. NM/NM. Very beautiful labels, still bright and full-color. All labels look like they were printed this morning, NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Capitol Inner Sleeves--- VG. Generic white inner sleeves with no die-cut hole for the labels to show are present. Still presenting well, these sleeves have splits on all three sides.
Generic inner sleeves will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeves en route.
RIAA: 12. One of the few covers for this title with an RIAA number, found on the inside gatefold in the bottom right corner. Most of these, by the way, are 16.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
