READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles’ Story LP 1968, Side 3 with Unissued Scranton Subsidiary of Straight Transfer!

This label variation was never issued as part of the “Subsidiary of…” run from 1968 and 1969.  In fact, to date, I’ve never seen nor heard of a Disc 1 and 4 with this label, and that’s after 50 years of searching.  I don’t think they exist.

However, the labels were printed for Sides 2 and 3, and they were sporadically scattered on just a very few copies.  There are copies with just the Side 2 label of the Straight Transfer “Subsidiary of…” as well as copies like this one, with the Side 3 label.  In extreme cases, you may be lucky enough to find a copy with BOTH labels on Disc 2!

Here’s a great copy that has the Side 3 label to get you started on completing this set.

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  EX/EX.  All four sides shine like new, with the exceptions of just one or two light marks per side.  95% original shine throughout.  Nice Discs!

Plates--- Configured as Sides 1 and 4, 2 and 3:

W5/W3.  W5/W3.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- VG.  Shows general wear throughout.  But the most damage is to the top two pocket seams.  Both have splits about 3 inches long.

Gatefold--- VG.  Has light to moderate dirtwear and ringwear.  Center seam has a tiny hole.

Labels--- EX/VG+. VG+/EX.  All four labels still show off as mostly new.  But they also have some spindle marks that are hard to see, so I significantly brightened them in the photos.  They aren’t nearly as dramatic in person!

Capitol Inner Sleeves--- VG.  Generic white inner sleeves with no die-cut holes for the labels to show is present.  Both show wear from the years.  Both have small splits in the seams, but they’re not too bad.  One sleeve is more wrinkled than the other one is.

Generic inner sleeves will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeves en route.

**These are tough labels, so don’t make the mistake of thinking you’re going to find one anytime soon, especially since this Side 2 and 3 disc is this nice.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
