JAPAN MFSL MOBILE FIDELITY BOX SET
NM UNPLAYED
The Beatles LEGENDARY and Complete UK Commercial Catalog of 13 LPs from the
ORIGNAL MASTER RECORDINGS
as packaged by
MOBILE FIDELITY SOUND LABS
I am the original owner. I, along with the owner of my local record store purchased 2 of these sets directly from Mobile Fidelity. The owner used an official PRE-RELEASE Order Form from MFSL which enabled us to get such low numbered sets. I am including an original of one of those forms (see photos). I opened the box the day it came in (now almost 4 decades ago), inspected a couple of albums, and then returned them to the box unplayed. It has been stored indoors in a smoke free environment. The pictures show this. I left the original dust cover/protector that came with the box set on it all these years (also see photo).
'The Beatles: The Collection' is a vinyl box set of all 13(some list as 14 because of the "White" double LP's) original Beatles LP's as they were released in the UK.
Each album was pressed on virgin vinyl by the Victor Company of Japan (JVC) ensuring the best sound quality possible.
The album covers were replaced with photographs of tape boxes and log sheets.
The original album covers are included in a booklet which also features a certificate of authenticity as this was a limited edition collection.
Released with much anticipation in early October 1982, 'The Collection' was lauded by critics and fans worldwide for the superb sound, and sold-out completely within the first year.
MFSL repressed a second run of the Beatles Box Set for a total production run of 25,000 over the next two years or until October 1985.
The vinyl records in this box set are indeed 'first pressings' from 1982.
The MFSL Certificate of Authenticity bears the Limited Edition Number 212!
That's right, number 212 of 25,000! According to Michael Grantham of MFSL, numbers 11-100 were used as promotional items with lower numbers (1-10) going to the 4 Beatles, George Martin and EMI execs.
This Box set includes:
All 13 Original UK version LPs with cardboard covers showing photos of the original master tapes and boxes with recording notes (dates, etc.).
A Full Color, full-sized booklet of all 13 Original LP Covers
All cardboard inserts and rice paper inner sleeves with LP's.
Certificate of Authenticity with LIMITED EDITION No. 212 (one of the lowest numbers ever offered on Ebay.
Original Geo-Disc
An original blank Pre-Order form I received from the owner of my record store.
A full color 4 page flyer from MFSL describing the release of "The Collection".
Original Warranty Certificate
A copy of an article from the July 9th edition of the LA Herald Examiner describing the coming release of the box set.
