THE BEATLES
SGT.PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND
The rarest version of this
fantastic album
side 2 track 6 "A Day In The Life" track listing has been ommitted on the record label by error at the EMI pressing plant.
The vast majority of these missprinted rareties were identified before leaving the factory and some that had already been dispatched to eagerly waiting record stores, were traced and recalled.....
This just leaves the estimated 200 or so that escaped into the public domain..
If you owned this album in June 1967 you became a very popular person and were immediately invited (along with your album of course!!) to all of the parties going. The result was that the vast majority of the 200 misprinted copies of this iconic album were trashed on some dodgy record deck.
HERE'S THE DIFFERENCE....
This album is in overall EX+ condition and the vinyl itself could be graded as NEAR MINT.
PARLOPHONE YELLOW/BLACK PMC 7027
Matrices XEX 637-1,XEX 638-1
stampers at 3 0'clock MRR,MAL
A genuine 1st pressing !!
"THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD."text around the circumference and "SOLD IN U.K."etc
The all important labels are both EX+ showing very minimal spindle and spider marking including the misprinted side 2 label
(please see photo's)
The Vinyl is as stated EX++ still retaining a deep gloss, showing barely a few whisps where the record has been withdrawn from the inner sleeve
(see the close up photo's)
I have played this vinyl just once on my vintage Dual CS505-2 belt driven deck through an Ortofon cartridge and it plays as it looks....SUPERB !!
NO pops, clicks or jumps, you would be hard pushed to obtain a better sounding version in glorious Mono sound.
The inner sleeve is the correct plain white version (The later ones sometimes had the red/white 'fools' inner but all of these rare misprinted ones had only white),it has a 2" unrepaired split on the bottom edge,no writing and retains its white colour.
The cut out sheet is in MINT condition and is the correct version, dark green on thick card
The Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve with internal flipbacks,is in overall EX- condition, the laminate is in great condition with just a few slight creases towards the edges and bottom corners, the internal seams are unmarked and the gatefold makes that satisfying cracking sound when opened indicating minimal useage. The spine is fully readable but has a little creasing.
This is a true collectors copy of one of the 1960's most influential albums
