READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles VI 1965 LP RAREST LA Copy, One Title Above Playhole on Each Side, EX!
Extremely hard to find Los Angeles copy, which I’m guessing is either a late first pressing or a very early second pressing. “Words of Love” is credited to BMI rather than ASCAP, but the small Capitol logo is still at the 6 O’clock position, as on first pressings. Pressing plates are from the first run.
Copies with the first title on each side above the playhole are unnecessarily rare. Check your own copies.
Vinyl--- EX/VG++. Side 1 has just one or two very light marks, the rest of the side looks unplayed. Side 2 has a few very light, but long scuffs. 90% brand new shine. This side is much stronger than VG+, but just under an EX rating.
Plates--- A13/A11. Definitely first pressing plates. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.
Cover--- NM/EX. A stunner first pressing cover! Front cover looks like you’ve just pulled the shrink off in 1965. Beautiful division between the cream-colored slick and the snow white borders.
Top right corner has a slight tear, less than half an inch, and I mean slight.
Back cover has just a secret of foxing at the bottom, and browning at the mouth. “See Label for Correct Playing Order” disclaimer is present.
NO SEAM SPLITS. I’ve never seen a first pressing cover this nice.
Labels--- EX/EX. Light spindle marks per side, and not many of them.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX. Original 1965 Capitol Olive Green sleeve is present. Lies perfectly flat, razor-sharp edges and corners. Full color. The only issue is that there is some very light edge wear, but NO SEAM SPLITS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 6
You probably shouldn’t pass on this copy. If you find a nicer one, it won’t be in this incarnation!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
