Description

This auction is for the RARE 2 LP set The Beatles VS The Four Seasons - The International Battle Of The Century released by Vee Jay Records in 1964, VJ Records number DX 30.  I will go into the detail and description of this set and it may run long but want to put as much information so you can decide if you would like to bid on it or not.  First this album was purchased when J.M. Field's Department Store in Hazlet, NJ was going out of business. For whatever reason they had numerous cutout bins of Mono 1960s Liberty, UA, Vee Jay, Capitol, Dolton, etc records and the store was closed in the 1970s.  I found this LP in one of the many, many piles they had and there was a price sticker stapled to the top left corner that went through the front and back cover, there were 2 staples on the top right (which didn't appear to go through to the back cover), and there were 3 pieces of the old Scotch Cellophane tape (which had yellowed by this time) to hold the cover closed as there was no shrink wrap on this and didn't appear it ever had shrink wrap as the price stickers were stapled on.  I purchased this, along with a Songs Stories and Pictures of the Fabulous Beatles and a BUNCH of other LPs that day. The old, yellowed cellophane tape left 3 dried yellowed glue marks which you can see on the edge of the back cover opening, but not so much on the front.  I NEVER played these LPs as again I had also purchased the "Songs Stories and Pictures" Lp that day which had the same songs.  I doubt either LP was played while it layed in J.M. Field's old stock for many years but to be cautious I'm stating "Possibly" unplayed.  There does not appear to be any marks on either of the LPs and the Labels also are not marked.  On the Four Seasons LP, Side 2, there is a thin short line at the center hole, but it appears to be when the label was put on in manufacturing and you can view this in one of the pictures above.  The poster was actually in the LP and that I did take out and had on the wall in my music library for a few years.  It should be noted there is a thumbtack hole in each corner of the poster and also some chipping to the paper in each corner of the poster, all of which you should be able to view when enlarging the picture of the poster that is with this auction.  There is a small vertical tear just above the top left portion of George's head and I've posted a picture of that with this auction.  The poster is very presentable and would rate it a nice VG+.  The inside foldout is in very nice condition and can also be viewed in the pictures posted and the center inner seam is intact and a picture of that is also posted.  The corners of the cover do have some dings to them which you should be able to see, and the back fold of the LP set has some wear at the very opening.  I have a pic of this but reached the limit posting pictures for this auction.  If you message me, I can try to send the pic that way. There is some chipping to the top and bottom seam, both of which I have pictures, but again, reached the picture limit, so message me and I will try to send those to you.  There was a split seam on the top right front cover, a small split top dead center front cover, a small 1/4" split bottom left of center, all of which I had put a piece of tape on back in the '70s when I bought this (thought it was a good idea back then to put the tape on the splits).  I also, for whatever reason, put a small 1/4" piece of tape on the spine towards the very bottom and also towards the very top.  I took pics to try and show this, but again, reached my picture limit, so possibly if you message me I can attach those.
Yes, there was a lot in the description of the cover but would rather give all the info on any and all flaws that I can see and am aware of.  Overall, I would rate the cover a Nice Clean VG to a Possible VG+.  Someone may have the patience and knack to remove the tape in the 2 places on the top seam and 1 place on the bottom seam by putting light heat from a hairdryer on it, as I was told this works, but I did not want to chance it myself as I had never tried it.
Shipping in the U.S. is 5.89, if you would like me to check into Ins. please let me know your Zip as the P.O. goes according to the Zip of the final destination.  Any questions just message me on here as I try to check ebay messages a few times or so a day.
Thanks very much for taking the time to read all the above and apologies if I went too into detail, but since this is a pretty Rare records set, I wanted to give as much info as possible.
