Description
Welcome to 20th Century Collectables
The Beatles – White Album - Original 1968 UK stereo 1st pressing with original top opening numbered sleeve and dark green Apple labels with ‘Sold in UK…’ label text.
A relatively early copy, pressed and manufactured ahead of the 22nd November 1968 release date.
Matrix numbers:
YEX 709-1, YEX 710-1, YEX 711-1, YEX 712-1 (all first matrix pressings)
Stamper codes: 1/GO, 1/GT, (First Mother) 2/GMP, 2/GRM

CONDITION
Disc
Visual: EXCELLENT
Disc 1: Side 1 EXCELLENT- Side 2 EXCELLENT
Disc 2: Side 3 EXCELLENT Side 4 EXCELLENT+
Some occasional light marks visible on side 1 but nothing feelable or drastic. Side 2 grades at full excellent with only some very light handling marks. Side 3 very similar to side 2. Side 4 has barely any noticeable marks and appears MINT in strong daylight. Under a strong halogen desklight there is evidence of light handling and whispy sleeve removal marks. Both heavy duty discs lie 100% flat on the turntable.
Audio: EXCELLENT
There is some noticeable surface noise evident at high volume between certain tracks and on some of the quieter passages but there is no groovewear or distortion to the music signals themselves. There are some light ticks on ‘Mother nature’s Son’ but overall the records play well
Labels: EXC+/MINT-
A clean and fresh set of looking labels with only minimal signs of spindle trails. Label 2 has a manufacturing error where the label has slipped in the press.
Cover
EXCELLENT
An original 1968 1st issue top opening numbered sleeve showing only moderate signs of general wear for its age. Some lamination has become removed over the word ‘The Beatles’ and there is a memory impression of some handwriting to areas of the front and back cover although this only becomes noticeable when the sleeve is held in a certain direction towards the light. The sleeve however retains much of its origianl freshness and whiteness. Sleeve number 0369493.
Inner-sleeves Good+
Original black inners. One inner has a seam split down one side.
Photos Excellent+
A pristine set of original 1968 photos on the thicker card stock. Positively from 1968 and not later 1970’s replacements
Poster Good+
Original 1968 G & L poster lipstick poster. Has some invisible tape repairs to some of the seams.
