THE BEATLES - 'WHITE ALBUM'
1968 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING
**100% COMPLETE**
This copy was played just twice by its original owner and carefully stored ever since.
Both discs are on the dark green Apple label: PMC 7067 & PMC 7068
All labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text and but omit the 'An EMI Recording' statement.
No tax/price code is visible on any label.
Housed in a fully laminated, top-loading 'Garrod & Lofthouse' mono cover, numbered: No. 0164580
Complete with original die-cut matt-black inners, matt UK 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed poster & four 'thick' card colour photos.
Matrix numbers: XEX 709-1, 710-1, 711-1, 712-1
Stamper numbers: 4/GH, 3/AR, 1/H, 1/P
Just two light spindle trails to each label.
Visual: NEAR MINT
Both surfaces are in pristine 'as new' condition in strong daylight and bear absolutely no marks or scratches to either side.
Close inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals just a few barely visible wispy paper hairlines but no other wear.
Audio: NEAR MINT
I am pleased to report that all tracks sound 100% 'as new'.
There is absolutely no trace of background noise, groovewear or any other audible wear on any track or in either channel.
Frequently worn areas such as the crossover from 'Back in The USSR' to 'Dear Prudence' play perfectly without any background crackle.
Even the guitar solo on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' is free from peakwear distortion or break-up.
The easily damaged introduction to 'Martha My Dear' and the deilcate 'Blackbird' & 'Julia' all play perfectly.
Listening carefully at volume, I detected just a light tick on the side 1 run-out, but there is no other wear or interference.
Label 3 is completely unmarked. Side 4 shows just a single, tiny single spindle trail.
Visual: Side 3 EXCELLENT PLUS Side 4 EXCELLENT
Unplayed since its original purchase in 1968, both surfaces retain their deep 'as new' gloss shines.
Side 3 bears just 2 faint hairlines but absolutley no other marks or wear.
Side 4 has a some small (3mm) fingernail marks to its edge, but no other visible wear.
There is a small, uneven section to the disc's edge, but this does not affect sound or play in any way.
Audio: Side 3 NEAR MINT Side 4 EXCELLENT PLUS
As with disc 1, I detected no trace of any crackle, peak/groovewear distortion anywhere.
Even the easily worn inner tracks on each side: 'Long, Long Long' & 'Goodnight' play perfectly without any distortion or break up.
Apart from a few intermittant light ticks during the first 45 seconds of 'Revolution 1', all tracks play perfectly without any audible wear.
Cover: EXCELLENT
A clean & unyellowed example which bears just a touch of light handling wear but no major faults.
The laminate is complete and glossy all-round & is totally intact around the raised wording on the front panel.
There is a small bump to the lower right corner but the others bear just minor shelfwear and no significant faults.
The top-opening edges are clean & sharp with just a 5mm 'bump' to the edge of the rear pocket.
The inside has a small thumbail crease on each panel but has clearly not been opened in many years.
The spine is slightly squashed and has some small sections of split laminate but the text is present & readable.
Both discs have been carefully audibly graded in their entirety on a Rega P9 deck fitted with a Shelter 901 cartridge.
