This album was The Beatles FIRST release on the now famous Apple label. It was entered into the charts on the 7th of December 1968 and went straight to number one-where it stayed for 7 weeks! Making it the FIRST double album to get the top slot...EVER!
The rather unusual fact about this album is that it was the first release by The Beatles which contained only SOLO material.
By the time 1970 ended, the total sales of this wonderful album were estimated to be 6.5 Million! However...get this...The only other album that beat this a few years later was "Saturday Night fever" !!!
Catagory Number: PCS 7607/8
The Vinyl: GORGEOUSLY shiny vinyl. There are some faint hairline marks as well as one needle mark to side 1, track 1 (1.5cm) However, saying that, I have just played the side 1, track 1 and didn't find any problem at all! GREAT!! do not affect play. There's only a small degree of background noise which will reduce following a clean as it's just dust.Nice and quiet between tracks and the run-in is also rather quiet..a joy to listen to, which would only improve with a professional clean.
The labels: All four of the labels are extremely bright and clean with only a few spindle marks. "Mfd in the U.K." and "EMI recording" (this EMI recording text is in brackets to side 3, but bold on sides 1, 2 and 4). There is a slight factory defect to side 3 and 4 label: It appears as if there's a small bit of bubbling to the label, where they didn't quite manage to stick it down properly at the pressing plant??!! Other than that, lovely and clean and WITHOUT writing or signs of excessive play.

The Cover: NUMBERED: 158948 It is side loading and VERY CLEAN, lovely shine to it. Garrod and Lofthouse flipback without tears, rips or writing!! There is a small amount of feathering to the side opening, with a small amount-1cmX2mm little chip out of the opening. The spine is still strong, with small amounts of lifting to the spines laminate. Only a few SMALL areas of spidering to the laminate, however the upper right corner has been bent over at some stage of it's life....Overall a very nice copy....It still opens with the clicky clic sound, showing a gorgeous WHITE and clean inside...mmm nice.
Inners: Original white inners with the text "IMPORTANT NOTICE COPYRIGHT EXISTS IN ALL APPLE RECORDINGS..." They are both pretty well looked after and have little sign of ageing...However they both have splits to the bottoms and to one side of each. STILL...THEY ARE ORIGINAL die-cut inners.
Pictures: The four pictures are EXCELLENT. The only small problem are pin-holes to the top corners...but not excessive pin-bashing!
