Description
The 2014 mono White Album reissue does have “Stereo” printed on the back jacket, even though the actual discs are mono. Here’s why:
• Artwork replication: Apple/EMI used the original UK 1968 sleeve design for authenticity. The original jacket had “Stereo” in the upper right corner (since mono jackets were phased out late in ’68), so the 2014 mono jackets reproduced that detail.
• Discogs confirms this: The 2014 White Album mono reissue (sold individually and in the Mono box) shows jackets marked with “Stereo,” but the labels on the records themselves say “MONO”, and the matrices/runouts identify them as mono pressings.
• U.S. availability: In 2015, Amazon U.S. was selling the EU Optimal pressing (made in Germany), so what you got is legitimate — just not a U.S. pressing, since none were made.
👉 In short: you really do have the 2014 mono reissue, and the “Stereo” marking on the cover is just a historically accurate reproduction, not a mistake.
