Description
One of the rarest, commercially available records in the Beatles British output...A monophonic Yellow Submarine album. The originals, with the red stripes on the reverse of the cover are exceptionally difficult to find, generally selling for $600 to over $1000 for an excellent copy. This is part of the 1980 Red box set, of which only 3,500 copies were sold. I purchased this about 15 years ago from the original owner and have played it once since, to make a reference copy. There are some faint "spider lines" near the spindle hole and wispy traces of lines on the vinyl, none of which are audible. The top seam of the cover broke apart (rather common for these copies) and someone tried taping the edge with Magic Tape, with less that notable success. I have enhanced the yellow tone on the scan so as to show clearly the bit of discoloration and tape residue at the top of the sleeve. In real life, the cover looks MUCH better than the scan...I just wanted to make it clear that the sleeve is not in mint condition. The record rates a solid Ex, very close to M-, and the sleeve is a VG to VG+, due to the very minor damage at the top and a bit of shelf wear at the bottom.
