Description
The Beatles Yellow Submarine UK 1st Press Mono PMC7070 Ex/Ex++
I DO NOT HAVE A BUY IT NOW PRICE!! The auction will run its course and the highest bidder wins.
Rare original UK Mono first pressing on the Apple Label from 1969 when most people had switched to stereo and mono records where the exception as opposed to the norm.
The sleeve has the ‘red lines’ top and bottom which signifies its status as a first press and the bottom flip back shows the printers credit error (omission of the printers name) which was only made on the early copies of the sleeve. Sleeves were mainly credited to Garrod and Lofthouse or EJ Day. This sleeve does not credit the printers.
Catalogue number PMC 7070. The label credits Apple records and includes the ‘Sold in UK subject to ...’
The dead wax run off groove matrix numbers are
XEX 715-1 and XEX 716-1. The mother stamper numbers are Side 1 - 2 GH and Side 2 - 1L. Shows how early this pressing is.
I have taken the time to provide a detailed grading below, which I believe is a thorough and conservatively honest appraisal and description. I have included 12 photographs to illustrate how good the condition is. PLEASE EXAMINE PHOTOS CLOSELY TO SEE HOW GOOD THE CONDITION IS.
Firstly this record has been play tested from start to finish through both sides of the LP. The photographs I have included are of the actual LP and as you can see one of them is of the LP on my Rega P6. The Rega is fitted with a high quality Goldring 2400 cartridge.
Sound Quality is Excellent +. The record plays faultlessly from start to finish through both sides without any defects. No hissing, no crackling and no pops or ticks. Not even the dust pops that some sellers refer to just music ????.
The vinyl retains its nice original sheen on both sides, there are a few faint hairlines if inspected closely but nothing that takes away from the sound quality.
The lp comes in its original 1960s Matt black inner sleeve which is in excellent plus condition and which is free from splits or tears with only a couple of minor creases.
The Lp cover is in excellent condition with some very minor signs of its 50 years of age. All three of the rear flip backs are firmly stuck down and free from any damage. The laminate is fully intact, there is no lifting or crazing of it. There is some very minor feathering of the sleeve entrance at one spot. The rear cover is nice and clean. The lp spine is fully intact with the lettering in perfect condition. All edges and corners of the sleeve are straight and free from damage or rubbing.
The labels are generally fresh and clean with little sign of any spindle wear. Side 1 has the faint residue of what appears to have been a small sticker. There also appears to be a previous owners name faintly printed on the label at the bottom of the Apple in its darkest part. One of the photographs clearly shows this. Side 2 is free from any defects.
Postage is as shown in the listing and includes tracking and insurance to cover the final sale value. If you have any questions please get in touch and check out my feedback. All records are shipped in professional mailing packs with a minimum of 2 cardboard stiffeners. Records are removed from sleeves.
