Description
(Note to newbies: “Still in shrink does not mean still sealed! It means the album is opened, but the owner didn’t pull the shrink off the cover.)
This week’s auctions are from my A-List. All Beatles LP’s listed will either be first or second pressings, all still in the shrink! Be sure to look at them all.
Cover--- Heart-stopping condition. The difference in color created by the back white slick and the front cream slick is still VERY noticeable. (That difference is usually blended as the cover ages and gets dirty.) Both seams and spine are razor-sharp and new. Graphics are bold and clear. Price sticker still affixed to the front cover. A small amount of shrink is missing from the bottom back center, where two small dents were allowed to compromise the cover a little. Overall, a stunning cover with minor, minor flaws. There are two breathe holes on the back, RIAA is 6.
Inner Sleeve---The originally issued inner sleeve is present. It’s the yellow Capitol sleeve. All seams are steady-strong. No splits. Bottom corner has a wrinkle from being inserted into the cover at the factory. Your “Yesterday and Today” LP will be shipped in a generic inner sleeve, so as not to damage your original Capitol sleeve during shipping.
Vinyl---Drop-dead gorgeous, gleaming blinding vinyl. Each side has just a few very light marks on them. You’ll find them under a direct bright and bare bulb, but not in normal room lighting. Looks brand new in the living room light. Plates are X5/X5.
Labels---Labels are near-perfect. Side 1 has a couple spindle marks, side 2 has none. This is a pressing with Scranton labels, but it is a consigned pressing through Columbia Records. Notice the concentric groove closer to the outer edge of the label, and very thin, as opposed to RCA’s trench-cut.
(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl. However, I am happy to by request. As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
