Description

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE AD. Trust me ,it’s worth it LAST picture was supposed to be first . Thank you ebay for dictating how I want my ad to be read, and seen... “Beatles Yesterday and Today” first pressing stereo Original 1966 in EX+ condition . This is the first cover after Butcher “No RIAA number” Plus photo shoot picture taken during the shooting of the album cover ,albeit black and white photo, refer to pictures . This record is a strong EX+ , may never have been played ,as it has no wear around spindle, but it has a couple of superficial marks on side two. It appears just handling marks , it should play as new . Here is the info . Side one . ST-1-2553-A3 IAM ( Scranton) Side two. ST-2-2553-A5 IAM ( Scranton ) Stereo 1966 first pressing vinyl . Cover NO ringwear ! slick on front w just slight wear at bottom. Back cover pristine . Next , I did a lot of research on this subject . Next to the RIAA logo there is NO number , in fact absolutely NO number anywhere on back cover. ( Capitol did put RIAA numbers in different places on back of covers ) Apparently these were the first covers to be printed after the Butcher Cover , hence Capitol Records just wanted to get the slicks on covers ASAP ,and had yet to define what companies would be getting the printing contracts . The number next to RIAA has nothing to do with whomever pressed the record, it tells you what company did the printing for the covers slicks . It spells out on top of back cover the statement ( Needle damage if not using a stereo cartridge) that’s nonsense of course , but that’s what the early pressings printed on back covers . The spine ( opposite opening where record goes into cover ) . I was limited in pictures so I elected to post a long shot of spine , look closely . There is a seam split about 3/4 of an inch at both top and bottom, and the spine only has typical paper cracks . The top and bottom of cover is fine with exception of seamsplit on bottom. I’m pointing out the only flaw I’m seeing in this entire record, cover ,inner sleeve .Inner sleeve Capitol orange advert sleeve is like new, not even a crease . I will not grade a record higher than EX+ unless I know it looks like new ,and never been played . This may very well have never been played but it has superficial lines on the vinyl. You have to look for this, under normal conditions it would pass as NM . I’m 100% certain record will play as new , it’s that clean. Now the photograph . It was inside the cover when I bought this . I took out the record , it was in original inner sleeve, but when I took record out of original sleeve ,and put it in lined poly sleeve ( which I do with ALL my albums ) I was putting original sleeve back in cover ,and it hit something . I shook cover upside down ,and this black and white photo came out. ( There were two photos actually, I’m keeping the other one ) Look at it. It’s a picture ( photograph ) of the photographer shooting this cover . Not a great picture ,and has markings on the back . It’s black and white and not well focused . You can see it in one of the pictures . Still it’s interesting. You can see the photographer aiming at all four Beatles standing around the trunk . All in all this appears to be a somewhat rare ,albeit NOT a Butcher Cover . Your guess is as good as mine in respect to how many slicks were printed with no number around RIAA . It’s certainly one of the first printed after the withdrawn Butcher Cover . In closing . I was going to sell it locally, and a guy came over to look at the record, he saw how clean the record was ,and the fact that front cover looked like it could easily be steamed off of however one would take a cover off . Then with the perfect inner sleeve he was really interested. He kept looking at front cover ,and the fact that it was stereo. Then he took interest in no RIAA number so you had no way of knowing who,and where the slicks were printed . You have to see this front and back cover up close to appreciate it , you can tell it was a rush job. The “ File Under Beatles “ is “almost” covered by the front slick , and the opening where record goes in cover is like new. I asked why he wanted this so much, and was willing to pay quite a bit of money for it . The devil is in the details . He said he was a collector, and wanted a NM Butcher Cover for his collection, but they were too expensive . Then he says he had a STEREO TEXTURED front Butcher Cover . He claimed it was just for his personal collection. I know full well why he really wanted it . It would be the perfect Stereo Butcher Cover with all the hallmarks of the original, and with No RIAA number it fell perfectly into a fraudulent Butcher Cover . No one would have ever known . Imagine what an EX plus stereo Butcher would sell for . I elected not to sell it to him. He was upset. I said on second thought I doubt I will find a cleaner first stereo pressing than this one, and I would like to keep it . I really want to sell it , but the handwriting was in the wall . Shipping USA $4.00 . Shipping rest of world $14.00 . No Russia ,China ,Portugal.

I just noticed Ebay put “ numbered “ in the description. I did NOT do that. On the contrary, there is NO RIAA number . Sorry if this caused any confusion.

I received a message about this record this morning from a potential buyer ( I bidder ) ... He asked me if I was certain the matrix were A3 ,and A5 , as he said he had a Stereo Butcher Cover with the same matrices , exactly the same A3 and A5 . Yes this record is definitely as described. The matrix side one after catalog are A3 side one ,and A5 side two. I couldn’t capture pictures well enough with my phone ,but I can assure you this is a very early first pressing of the vinyl. I looked at some matrix letters/numbers of what some of the early pressings had ( Butcher Cover vinyl ) . This one I’m selling has the best ( closest to the tape ) of any I could find . If anyone has any information that may be useful ,by all means “message” me here .
