I am listing for sale, a very rare copy of a book 'Beatles in Liverpool' by local Liverpool photographer Peter Kaye. The book is in paperback format and was published by Starlit in January 1987. It measures approximately 23cm x 15.5cm, and contains 104 pages of black and white photographs of the Beatles (many previously unseen) taken in the early 1960's.
Established in 1956, Peter Kaye Photography are one of Liverpool's leading photographic studios. They were commissioned to photograph the early Beatles publicity pictures when Brian Epstein gave them the brief to "provide photographs that would match the unique Beatles sound" Brian took the resulting pictures and demo tapes he had made to London......and the rest is history.
These photographs, most of which are presented in this book, were to become the most famous pictures of the early Beatles. They were unique in many ways, being perhaps the first ever "outdoor location" shots of any major British pop group. Before the historically valuable negatives were obtained by Apple corps for their collection, the studio gathered together a selection of the best pictures (some of them never before seen) and published them in this book. Only 5,000 copies of the book were ever printed and many were sent to Beatle fans around the world.
