READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

I recently took in a large collection of Beatles albums, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX.  They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label.  I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.

The vinyl is collectable on these, although the covers may be a bit dirty, and/or split.  Here’s one that’s a great, solid play copy.

Keeping in mind that my VG grade does not allow for any scratches that are feelable with the fingertip, this copy still shines about 75% to 80% new gloss.  In 1964, stereo was still a rare format which cost more than mono albums, and by then, people knew better than to buy Beatles albums that didn’t feature them prominently on the covers.

If you’ve ever tried to find a first pressing stereo copy of this album, you know that it’s a very hard task indeed.  This copy has fine, short scratches on both sides with just an isolated long one or two.  More than a filler copy, and searching for a keeper copy after this one will be optional.

Vinyl--- VG/VG.  Still plenty of original shine, but there are lots of light scratches on both sides.

Plates--- 64-ST-336/64-ST-337.  SE-4215 on both sides.

Cover--- VG.  Moderate to heavy ringwear to the front cover, light yellowing, light dirtwear to the back.  Last name, “Potter” written in pencil at the top left of front cover.  Back cover has a small spot of raised slick, where a price tag was removed, as well as two tiny staple holes on both sides, where another price tag was attached. Top and bottom seams have moderate shelfwear.  Top corner of the spine has a ¼-inch spot of missing slick.  NO SEAM SPLITS.

Labels--- EX/EX.  Nice, shiny 1964 black MGM labels have just a few spindle marks per side, very small.

MGM Inner Sleeve--- VG. Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  One side seam is split about 2 inches.  Sleeve is yellowed with light wrinkling and foxing.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original MGM inner sleeve en route.

A solid “Very Good” copy, which doesn’t mean used as a lid to make popcorn on movie night.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
