A lovely example of this luxurious item, generally found in poor condition with the fragile book holder, inner tray, or outer slip case often offered as replacements, which, although accurate in construction, cannot replicate the original card and colour tone used by Garrod and Lofthouse in 1970



THE SET COMPRISES THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

The Outer Slip Case
Fully laminated - a solid example, showing nothing more than general ageing and perimeter wrinkles/thumb bends - the left and right openings are very straight and undamaged - genuine original

The Slip Tray
Lovely example - genuine original - completely intact - hard to find as good as this
*
The Book Tray
Without doubt the 'Star' component of this set - almost impossible to find in this, near perfect condition - made from thin cardboard, this is a genuine original - designed to hold the very heavy 'Get Back' book, this ridiculously fragile item is sometimes missing, or at best, found with torn corners, which are prone to separation - the close up photo, above, shows the underside of the tray, at it's most vulnerable point on the 4 corners (this picture shows the most stressed corner, the other 3 are near perfect) - all four corners are strong, making the whole thing very sturdy

The 'Red Apple' Sleeve
Only ever issued as part of the 'Box Set' - a strong example, with thumb bends and perimeter wrinkles but no real problems - my feeling is that this has not been returned to the 'box' after every play and is more likely to have been treated as a separate item, when first bought and enjoyed

The Vinyl
Visually: Stunning condition - lovely deep gloss surfaces - nothing more than a few wispy handling lines, only evident in reflected light
Audio: Sound quality is superb - although the surfaces appear unworn, there is crackle evident through the run ins - this is largely overpowered by the tracks and only really noticeable during quieter sections - a 'pop' on the run in between tracks 1-2 side two but not on the track (can't see why, the groove looks perfect)

The Labels   Perfect condition - no writing or damage - mild spindle trails - small manufacturing blemish (see photo), less visible than my camera appears to show

The Get Back Book
 Very early first print run which had missing publishing credits, in error - the photo shows the slightly different toned pasted on strip, below the printed credits, which had been left blank (the ripples on the page are from the water in the paste, all other pages are smooth and glossy) - good condition, with some front panel thumb bends - no missing or detached pages (a common fault with these books) - a few do show signs of glue failure but are still attached - the pages are unnumbered but are all there (80 internal leaves-2 outer-documented as 164 faces) - wonderful publication on quality gloss paper, with hundreds of photos of the boys as well as some printed dialogue  
*   The Inner Sleeve   White original, patented - age toned but near perfect - a few spots - no tears
