Beatles-Rel. 45 Jackie Lomax Sour Milk Sea RAREST and Undocumented NM!

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

If you’re a serious collector, I’ll bet you’ve never even heard of this variation.

We know that this single was originally issued in 1968, and that the first pressings had “The Eagle Laughs at You” on the flip-side, and that it was accidentally credited to George Harrison as the songwriter.

We know that the single was reissued with the flip-side changed to “(I) Fall Inside Your Eyes,” which is the far more common variation.

We also know that the single was reissued in 1971 in stereo, with “(I) Fall Inside Your Eyes” on the B-side and WITH the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer at the bottom of the Side 1 full Apple side.  Those are tough.

Some of the more serious collectors will also know that there was an even scarcer 1971 reissue with “The Eagle Laughs at You” on the flip-side, correctly crediting Jackie as the songwriter in stereo, WITH the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer at the bottom of the Side 1 full Apple side.  Those are VERY tough to find.

But even the most seasoned collectors with decades of looking through records won’t know of this variation, which very well may have been an error pressing.

There was an even scarcer 1971 reissue with “The Eagle Laughs at You” on the flip-side, correctly crediting Jackie as the songwriter in unheard of MONO, with the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer at the bottom of the Side 1 full Apple side.

This 45 has straight-up, definitely MONO mixes on both sides!  Jackie’s album, “Is This What You Want,” was never issued in MONO.

**This 45’s labels are missing the word, “Stereo.”

**The album reference is also missing.

**The matrices on both the labels and in the dead wax are prefaced with just “45,” as opposed to “S45,” the “S” designating the mix as stereo.

**The rare stereo counterpart is listed in the price guides as being rarer than the promo for this single.

**This MONO pressing is not discussed at all in any of the great source books.

**I’ve never seen another copy of this pressing in my life!

**It remains an undocumented pressing to this day.

Vinyl: NM/NM.  Looks brand new.

Plates: H10/H10.  Hand-etched Delta symbol (or rifle) in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Winchester.

Labels: NM/NM.  Labels look brand new.

Sleeve: EX. Light wrinkles and finger divots.  Light serration marks around the die-cut hole on Side 2 of the sleeve.

Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.

**Hate to part with this one!  I’ll not find another copy, but it’s time for at least one other serious collector on the planet to have the pleasure!**

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
