Beatles-Rel Apple Shipping Box WITH 25 Copies Ronnie Spector Pic Sleeves and 45’s!
Apple shipping box that still contains 25 copies of Ronnie Spector’s 45 and picture sleeve, “Try Some, Buy Some” backed with “Tandoori Chicken.” Both tunes written by George Harrison. Seems like a strange pairing of titles, coming from a vegetarian…
Fun Fact: When Lennon went into the studio to record his single, “Happy Xmas” also produced by Phil Spector, he told Phil to do to that song what he did to Ronnie’s “Try Some, Buy Some.” So Phil dumped echo all over Lennon’s record, too. You can definitely hear the similarities between the two songs.
Apple Shipping Box: Yeh, pretty good shape, not perfect. The bottom panel has some water damage, and both flaps are missing. The top flap has the catalogue number written in grease pencil, “1832.” Otherwise, this is a very attractive box. Clear, sharp Apple graphics, no other writing or tape tears, as is seen with a lot of these boxes.
Sleeves: All 25 picture sleeves are VG++ to NM and unused. They never hit the record racks, after all!
Vinyl: There are 8 copies from the Winchester plant, and 17 copies from the Jacksonville plant. All 45’s are VG++ to NM unused. Interestingly enough, all the Jacksonville copies have the identical manufacturer’s defect in the vinyl, which is a slight warp. And they’re all slightly warped in exactly the same way. These 45’s were definitely pressed sequentially!
Labels: All the Jacksonville labels have those little label cracks around the edges, as shown in the photo. All Winchester copies are NM.
If you’re in the habit of purchasing these Apple shipping boxes, here’s one for you that still has the 45’s in it with their original picture sleeves! How many times do you see that happen?!

(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
