Beatles-Related 4 George Martin LPs: Beatle Girls, Help, HDN & Off Beatle Track

In this auction are 4 George Martin Beatles-related LPs. George Martin, the Beatles Recording Director, was considered “the 5th Beatle” due to his influence on so many Lennon-McCartney compositions.

LP #1:

·       HELP! by George Martin & His Orchestra

·       This LP is United Artists UAL 3448.

·       It was released September 6, 1965.

·       This is a MONO (Monaural) pressing.

·       The Beatles appear on the cover. Their images were protected/copyrighted and did not appear on the cover of many LPs that were not Capitol/Apple Records pressings.

·       This LP contains instrumental versions of 7 Beatles songs that were in the motion picture “HELP!” plus 5 other Beatles songs, 3 of which are identified on the cover and label by their early working titles: “Auntie Gin’s Theme” for “I’ve Just Seen A Face”, “That’s A Nice Hat (Cap)” for “It’s Only Love”, and “Scrambled Eggs” for “Yesterday”.

·       The COVER is graded VERY STRONG VG CONDITION. There is light to moderate overall wear on the cover. There is some wear on all 4 corners. The white reverse shows light aging and light wear.

·       The VINYL is graded VG+ with a few light surface hairlines/scuffs. The Vinyl has lots of gloss!

LP #2:   

·       GEORGE MARTIN INSTRUMENTALLY SALUTES ‘THE BEATLE GIRLS’ by George Martin & His Orchestra

·       This LP is United Artists UAL 3539.

·       It was released in November, 1966.

·       This is a MONO (monaural) pressing.

·       The LP contains instrumental versions of 12 Beatles’ songs, most with a girl-connection. (Don’t know how “Yellow Submarine” made it onto this LP?!)

·       The COVER is STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP!! The shrink wrap has breathe holes. It is graded Very Strong VG+ to Near Mint Minus. There is a sticker on the shrink near the top right corner. There is a small “ding” on the opening about 4 inches from the top and 3 small corner pushes. The white rear cover is nice and bright! Oddly, there are a couple of small tears on the rear slick under the shrink that must have occurred during the packaging process at the pressing plant. There is a light corner crease near the top left corner.

·       The VINYL is VERY STRONG VG+ with several light surface hairlines/scuffs. The Vinyl has lots of gloss!

·       It comes with its original pink United Artists inner paper sleeve that includes an image of the Hard Day’s Night LP cover. The sleeve has some creases, a few small tears, a 3-inch seam split on the sleeve’s bottom and a 1-inch split on one side. 

LP #3:

·       OFF THE BEATLE TRACK LP by George Martin & His Orchestra

·       This LP is United Artists UAS 6377.

·       It was released August 3, 1964.

·       This is a STEREO pressing.

·       The Beatles and George Martin are pictured on the front and rear covers. The Beatles’ images were protected/copyrighted and did not appear on the cover of many LPs that were not Capitol/Apple Records LPs.

·       The LP contains instrumental versions of 12 early Beatles songs including: “All My Loving”, “She Loves You”, “Can’t Buy Me Love”, “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “Please Please Me”, and “From Me To You”.

·       The COVER is graded Very Strong VG to VG+ Condition. There is light overall wear on both the front and rear cover and a couple of tiny corner pushes. Seams and Spine are nice and strong and without wear.  There is a little wear on the bottom right corner.  

·       The VINYL is also graded NICE VG+ Condition with a few light/surface hairlines/scuffs. The Vinyl still has lots of gloss.

·       It comes with its original white United Artists inner paper sleeve. The sleeve has some writing on it, a 3-inch split on one side, and a 2-inch split on the bottom.

LP #4:

·       A HARD DAY’S NIGHT LP by George Martin & His Orchestra Instrumental Versions of the Motion Picture Score

·       This LP is United Artists UAS 6383.

·       This is a STEREO pressing

·       George Martin, the Beatles Recording Director, was considered “the 5th Beatle” due to his influence on so many Lennon-McCartney compositions.

·       It was released November 2, 1964.

·       This LP has the Beatles pictured on the front cover. Very few U.S. record companies outside of Capitol Records, Apple Records and Vee Jay Records had the legal rights to show the Beatles’ image on their LP covers.

·       The LP contains instrumental versions of 13 Beatles songs including 4 from the film/soundtrack LP: “I Should Have Known Better”, “And I Love Her”, “Ringo’s Theme (This Boy)”, and, of course, “A Hard Day’s Night”.  

·       The COVER is graded Strong VG Condition. There is moderate overall wear on both the front and rear cover. Seams and Spine are nice and strong and without wear. There is a spot on the cover at top left where a piece of tape was removed along with a dime-sized portion of the slick.    

·       The VINYL is also graded Weak VG+ Condition with a several light/surface hairlines/scuffs. The Vinyl still has lots of gloss.

The COVER is Very Strong VG+ to Near Mint minus with just a little wear on the bottom of the front cover. The VINYL is Near Mint Minus.
