Description
IN THIS AUCTION:
· “James Taylor” by James Taylor
· James Taylor was one of Apple Records “First Four” newly- discovered talents. This LP was produced by Peter Asher, of the 1960s recording duet of Peter & Gordon, and brother of Jane Asher, Paul McCartney’s girlfriend.
· This LP is Apple SKAO-3352.
· It was released on February 17, 1969.
· The LP COVER is a RARE PROMOTIONAL COVER with “FREE” drilled in small holes through the upper right corner. This is the typical promotional designation of other Apple Records released in 1969 as well. (Thanks to Perry Cox’s Price Guide for the Beatles American Records for information about this LP.)
· As you may know, PROMO RECORDS were only released by record companies to the radio stations and DJs for airplay or to music stores/departments and not made available to the general public.
· The LP contains 12 cuts on it including such GREAT songs as: “Carolina In My Mind”, “Something in the Way She Moves”, “Something’s Wrong”, and “Rainy Day Man”.
· This is the LP that launched James Taylor’s career as an outstanding singer/songwriter.
· The COVER is graded VG+ Condition, practically near mint. There is some light overall wear and light wear on the bottom of the spine and bottom right corner and a couple of small stains on the inside gatefold cover where the lyrics are printed.
· The VINYL is graded NEAR MINT with lots of gloss!
· It is remarkable that even the ORIGINAL PAPER INNER SLEEVE has stayed with this LP and is included. It has “FREE” drilled in small holes in the corner to match the cover.
· This is a RARE BEATLES-RELATED PROMOTIONAL LP FOR THE HIGH BIDDER TO ADD TO HIS/HER VINYL COLLECTION!
