Description
I’ve put up for auction several BEATLES-RELATED PROMO RECORDS from my own vinyl collection. So, please check my other auctions for records that you may want.
In this auction is a RARE Apple Records Promo Record that launched James Taylor’s career as a recording artist!!!
Here are the details about the record in this auction:
· “CAROLINA ON MY MIND” b/w “SOMETHING’S WRONG” by James Taylor
· This is Apple Records PRO - 1805.
· This Record was pressed in February, 1969.
· This is a 7-INCH PROMO RECORD issued by Apple Records.
· As you may know, PROMOTIONAL RECORDS such as the one in this auction were issued in very limited quantities and only made available for promotional purposes to, for example, DJs at the Radio Stations for on-air play or for juke box play. They were not made available to the general public, so they are VERY sought after due to their rarity and limited quantities.
· This record is actually the second promo issue of “Carolina In My Mind”. The first promo issue was backed with “Taking It In” (a very rare pressing indeed). But this cut was quickly replaced with “Something’s Wrong” as the B-side cut which is the promo issue in this auction. Still, even this 2nd promo pressing has become VERY tough to find now.
· The TITLE is ERRONEOUSLY SHOWN as “CAROLINA ON MY MIND” instead of the correct title which is “CAROLINA IN MY MIND”.
· Publishing credit is Apple Music Publishing Co., Inc.
· This record and the Apple LP “James Taylor”, which this single was issued to promote, were produced by Peter Asher. As you may know, Peter Asher was half of the recording duo of “Peter & Gordon” and brother of Jane Asher, Paul McCartney’s girlfriend for some time during his Beatles days.
· The VINYL (both sides) is NEAR MINT. (There is “G2” written VERY lightly in ballpoint on the A-side label. You can see that it is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the A-side label un-cut Apple image.
· This record also comes with a Near Mint Apple Records Stock Paper Sleeve.
· A VERY NICE JAMES TAYLOR APPLE RECORDS PROMO RECORD ISSUED AT THE DAWN OF HIS RECORDING CAREER THAT COMMENCED ON THE BEATLES’ APPLE RECORDS LABEL!!
