“THE BEST OF GEORGE HARRISON” LP by George Harrison

This is Capitol Records ST-11578.

This LP title was originally issued November 8, 1976.

There were also 4 or 5 subsequent Capitol repressings between 1977 and 1990.

However, I believe that this LP in this auction is a 1976 FIRST PRESSING.

This is based on the gold “CERTIFIED ‘BEST OF’ ALBUM” sticker on the front shrink wrap with the printing “THE GREATEST MUSIC EVER SOLD” in the center. I know that Capitol Records placed this sticker on LPs that were issued in 1976.

Furthermore, Capitol Records issued a promotional LP in 1976 entitled “THE GREATEST MUSIC EVER SOLD ON CAPITOL RECORDS AND TAPES” (SPRO-8511/8512) with the same printing style of “THE GREATEST MUSIC EVER SOLD” printed in the center of the sticker. That promotional compilation LP has cuts by recording artists from the Capitol Records catalog including 3 cuts by the Beatles, 1 cut by Ringo Starr and 1 cut by John Lennon.

The COVER is in STILL SEALED CONDITION in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP.

The COVER is graded VG+ CONDITION due to the “DESIGNATED PROMO” PUNCH HOLE at the upper right corner and very slight wear on the lower right corner exposed by the shrink wrap.

The VINYL is, of course, in MINT CONDITION and STILL SEALED inside the cover.

This LP contains 13 GREAT George Harrison compositions from his Beatles-years (from Capitol and Apple LPs) and from his post-Beatles years (from his solo Apple LPs). I included an enlarged image of the song tracks listing for you to see his GREAT tunes on this LP.
A VERY NICE STILL SEALED ORIGINAL 1st PRESSING of this LP that is now almost 50 years old for someone’s vinyl collection!
