Description
For sale is Bee Gees' 1st, originally released in 1967 by ATCO Records, a division of Atlantic Recording Corporation. This release has the original ATCO tan and purple labels, which were found on albums between 1961-68, and indicates a first edition. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks is etched "AT/LW", indicating that the record was mastered at Atlantic Studios, N.Y.C and the lacquer was cut at Long Wear Stamper Corporation of Long Island City, New York. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering that was used to make this first edition, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound. I bought this used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17, then immediately put the record into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. The inner sleeve is Excellent with a slightly bent corner and oxidation. The cover is graded as VG because of corner blunts, ring wear, edge rubs and two pin holes on the front cover's upper right hand corner. The spine has a little color loss at the corners, but there's significant paper loss along the top and bottom seams. The vinyl is visually graded as VG because of sleeve marks and surface scratches. It's play-graded between G+ and VG because of some occasional ticking and surface noise, more noticeable during the quiet sections of playback, but it doesn't over power the music at all. This is still one of the best copies of this hard to find record that I have ever seen or heard. You would be hard pressed to find a first edition in any condition. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I have more Rock and Roll records, as well as albums of all genres in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
