redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This justly famous LP from La Voix de son Maitre (ASDF 532, French pressing, large dog white/red semi-circle label, stereo, “baguette” jacket, dowel spine) features that magical LP "Lollipops · Favourite Pieces of Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., C.H.", recorded with his own Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – arguably the finest album of its kind – truly remarkable.

Included are:

Suppé: Poet and Peasant Overture

Sibelius: Valse Triste, from the Incidental Music to Kuolema

Berlioz: Royal Hunt and Storm, from The Trojans

            > with the Beecham Choral Society (Chorus Master: Denis Vaughan)

Mozart: March in D Major K. 249

Saint-Saëns: Le Rouet d'Omphale Op. 31

Debussy: Prélude à l'après d'un faune

Berlioz: Dance of the Sylphs from The Damnation of Faust Op. 24

Chabrier: Marche joyeuse

There are supremely eloquent liner notes on the revese side of the jacket by Sir Thomas himself, as well as by Robert Cusham, printed in French only. The memorable cover photo of Beecham is uncredited.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD+ There is light wear and discoloration along the edges, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings, and the whole remains solid, bright, and very attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Though there is light surface noise throughout, in general the playback remains quite fine. However, those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
