Scarce Japanese pressing of the classic Karajan 8lp recording of the complete 9 Symphonies, released in Europe as SKL 101/7 on Deutsche Grammophon. Although this carries the DG label (with tulips), it also carries the label 'Time/Life Record Library' with the catalogue number TLI1021/28 (please see label photo above) and is manufactured by Nippon Grammophon Co. Ltd., Japan.
Condition of the box is Very Good. Structurally it's absolutely sound. The cloth covering has picked up some light staining over the years and there's a few light scratches on the cover image but, as you can see from the photos, nothing that stops it being a lovely looking box. The discs themselves I would give a very conservative estimate of VG+ - there's a few light hairlines and the occasional static crackle but the vinyl is shiny and lustrous. I'm listening to Symphony No 8 as I type this, and boy, did they know how to press a recording back then! Rich, full involving sound that's so much more involving than the flat clarity of Digital!
The discs come in labelled inner sleeves (Time/Life/Beethoven's 9 Symphonies/Karajan). One of these is missing and has been replaced with a new anti-static inner. A couple of the others have a little bit of staining and (I hate it when people do this!) a bit of annotation. The booklet is Excellent - although you may have to brush up on your language skills to understand any of it!
The box weighs over 2 kilos but unfortunately eBay will not allow more than £7 to be listed as postage costs in this category.
