Description
From the early glory days (1961) of London (Decca) FFSS Stereo Classical Disk Production, Ernest Ansermet's superb account of Beethoven's mighty and awesome Symphony No. 9 presented on a single disk (London CS.6143). Great vocal cast here highlighted by the soaring soprano of Dame Joan Sutherland caught at an early peak of her distinguished concert career. Supporting vocalists, including the fabulous Norma Proctor are equally accomplished and particularly well-matched here. Heavy-Gauge, UK Pressed Decca/London vinyl of the era. Disk deadwax mechanically stamped 1E (Side 1) and 1E (Side 2) indicating First Edition and First Pressings from the original Decca UK masters. Visual inspection under bright light shows the disk appears near flawless retaining a high-gloss vinyl sheen on both sides. A Few, Short, very superficial, whispy hairlines on both sides are inaudible on play grading. Early London crystal-clear stereo sound comes through delightfully. Vinyl easily near-mint overall. Stout Gate-Fold heavy cardboard jacket is near-Mint as well with all seams firmly intact. Not a Cut-Out. Original FFSS London inner plastic-lined paper sleeve in perfect condition. This is just a superlative copy of a super-fine early stereo recording.
