Description
Ben Selvin and his Orchestra play "Alibi Baby" and "Toodle-oo" on a single-sided, 11-1/2" Associated test pressing (mx. A1532-C2), still in its original sleeve. On the first title, Adrian Rollini has straight solos on goofus and hot solos on bass sax. There's also a good trumpet soloist who sounds like Mannie Klein. On the second title, Rollini is briefly heard on vibes. There are no vocals on either side.
Recorded in New York on April 23, 1937. These performances are unissued in any form.
This record is very well recorded and is in E- condition. It is pressed on a slightly flexible material that is neither shellac nor vinyl. It plays at 33-1/3 rpm. Please note that it is vertically recorded and therefore requires special playback equipment. The sleeve is in excellent condition save for a few small tears and creases at the top, and the important writing on the front.
You can read about this actual record in Ate Van Delden's superb Rollini biography (see last picture).
I'm a longtime collector who is downsizing. I know how to pack records. I'll ship this rare item only by priority mail.
