Description

This is for one 10" Shellac Single/split 78 RPM record.  I am selling my friends mothers collections and have sold many of them for her on ebay and now I am adding more to sell.

*Please understand that I am not a professional grader, nor professional record store. I have no way of playing these 78 RPMs, so I have no idea on sound quality. They do show scuff marks but have NO cracks, chips or breaks. Label is in great condition.

Please see ALL photos before bidding. Please see Positive Feedback.

Side A: Bennie Moten's Kansas City Orchestra - The New Tulsa Blues
Pianist and bandleader, Bennie Moten helped to establish what is called the Kansas City Jazz style. In 1922 he formed the B. B. & D. Trio (Beenie, Bailey and Dude, although they were popularly referred to as Big, Black and Dirty) and made his recording debut in 1923, when his band accompanied Blues singer Ada Brown on the song "Evil Mama Blues". In 1926, Bennie Moten's Kansas City Orchestra began recording for Victor. Moten had several bands touring under his name in the 1920s. Moten started "raiding" another Kansas City band, The Blue Devils for musicians. Count Basie left the Blue Devils in 1929 and was followed by Jimmy Rushing, Hot Lips Page, Eddie Durham and Ben Webster, thus forming the nucleus of the future Count Basie Orchestra. When Moten died in 1935 from a botched tonsillectomy, Basie took over the band. Under his leadership the band emerged as one of the greatest of all Jazz bands (redhotjazz.com).
Side B: Clifford George Hayes - The Petter's Stomp
...multi-instrumentalist and bandleader played the fiddle, joined the Earl McDonald Jug Band in Louisville, the city where jug bands originated. After a disagreement in 1919, Hayes formed his own band and played in a few sessions with Sarah Martin. Some of his recordings can still be found listed under Clifford Hayes and the Louisville Jug Bands(discogs.com)
VICTOR LABEL - As the electric era kicked in Victor changed the labels once again to the "Scroll" label, which ran from 1926-1937.  The earliest variety has the catalog number on the bottom.  It would soon move to the right of the hole and the words "Orthophonic Recording" would remain left of the hole.
