Condition

All covers, labels and inners have no rips, loosening of glue, handwriting in ink or biro pen.

All records listed are in no less than EX condition (see above for actual grading). In some cases I may list a very rare record at a lesser grading but this will be described in detail. All items are graded conservatively according to Record Collectors Grading System Record Collectors Grading system (outlined at end of listing)

Brief description of item

This is the Benny Golson 'BENNY GOLSON & THE PHILADELPHIANS' featuring - Lee Morgan, Joe Jones, Percy Heath & Ray Bryant. Release is on the LONDON label, from the London jazz series. Released in 1959. Cat# LTZ-T 15176.

Cover is VG with some wear from the years of storage, only grades at very good, down to some age & general discolour, one of the flip back tabs on the back cover is folded over. There are however no handwritten names or any signs of ripping to the cover front or back. The spine at the side is also intact. It's not to bad taken the age - 0ver 60 years in age. A rare sight to see today & not many ever turn up in listings.

The labels are RED/SILVER & of the LONDON American Jazz Recording series. Both labels are free from any ripping or tearing & have no names written. The text is fully legible on either side. Only some small spider lines can be seen under bright light or at a certain angle under normal daylight conditions. These are only around the centre pin holes & not trailing off onto the rest of the labels. Condition of these is excellent.

The original dust jacket inner is present & without any splitting. British patent no. 800513, foreign patents pending. This Is in a fantastic shape, still has the poly lined inner bag firmly attached to the inside. No handwritten names or ripping etc. Doe's not even have paper aging & has not thinned. I keep the record stored inside another spare plain white inner.

The actual record itself has no heavy scratched marks, no ingrained dust, no needle thrashing, and sits proudly 100% flat on any surface, turntable or otherwise. I have test played the whole record as I do with any records before listing. There are I'm happy to say no major concerns I.E. No skip - backs, jump or locked grooves, no scratched surface visual or to feel. The record is very clean & the only visual issue is that there are some impressions from this being stored for so long insides the original poly bag lined inner. The inner bag has left some of its history on the actual disc. But...This is only relevant if you really look for it & only under bright light or at an angle in normal daylight conditions....Will not/doe's not affect any of the actual audio. As I have checked & double checked. Plays as at worst VG++, with some background noise, but not much, I listened through headphones very loud. I'll actual grade the record at excellent though. No repetitive pops, ticks, crackle or distortion. A very enjoyable listen. This had not been played for years, and has a few little isolated dust particles, that will easily be cleaned out of the grooves. If you own a professional cleaner or have another method, it'll only get better.

Record will be packed in a tough custom box DEFENDAPACK mailer as shown in the photos below. The mailer has a locking tab. The record will be placed outside its cover and inside a brand new polythene protector between two card stiffeners and sealed at the top with fragile marked masking tape. Items are labelled "handle with care".

Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condiition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displayes no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable

Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has notceably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc

Fair (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratched, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing Bad (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler

CD's and CASSETTES As a general rule CD's and Cassettes either play perfectly - inwhich case they are in Mint condition - or they don't, in which case their value is minimal. Cassette tape is liable to deteriorate with age, even if it remains unplayed, so care should be taken when buying old tapes. CD's are difficult to grade visually; they can look perfect but actually be faulty, while in other cases they may appear damaged but still play perfectly. Cassette and CD inlays and booklets should be graded in the same way as record covers and sleeves. In general, the plastic containers for cassettes and CDs can easily be replaces if they are broken or scratched, but card covers and digipaks are subject to the same wear as record sleeves
