Description

Up for bid is an original deep-groove mono pressing of the Benny Golson Quintet featuring Curtis Fuller's "Gone With Golson" released on the Prestige/New Jazz label and cataloged NJLP 8235.  Featured are the original purple labels indicating a microgroove pressing.  Also featured are the iconic "RVG" stamps in the dead wax indicating the involvement of Jazz legend Rudy Van Gelder. The LP also features a flat-edge indicating also an truly original deep-groove pressing.  The Benny Golson Quintet also includes Ray Bryant on piano, Tom Bryant on bass and Al Harewood on drums.

The copy for your consideration features vinyl that is in very solid VG++ condition, almost NM- but for some very light surface marks that appear to be the result of storage in an unlined paper sleeve.  The purple labels are clean and the spindle-hole shows no signs of wear.  The cover, however, grades an extremely conservative VG.  The spine and bottom seam are intact and in nice shape, but the top seam is split.  There is no tape anywhere on the jacket, but (as pictured) there is writing on the back cover (the original owner's last name in ball-point pen) and some staining.  Aside from the cover (which is still in relatively decent shape) this remains a rather nice copy of an extremely hard to find gem. 

All records are shipped outside of their jacket in a plastic lined inner sleeve to ensure no damage to the jacket during shipment and no damage to the LP from shifting around in an inadequate paper sleeve.  All items are promptly shipped in sturdy cardboard record mailers.  Check my previous feedback and bid with confidence.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the item or shipping.
