BERLINER 7" GRAMOPHONE RECORD - RECORDED OCTOBER1899!
I SELL ONLY IN THE U.K.
Yes, this 7" single sided disc was recorded in1899 - Cat No.25; matrix No. 3879.
Played by HER MAJESTY'S (i.e. Queen Victoria's!) Grenadier Guards Band under Mr. Miller,we have:
“The Circus Girl”. (Caryll & Monckton). 'Just a Little Piece of String'.
1899 is only the second year of the issue of disc records in the U.K. by The Gramophone Company, which was, of course, later to become His Master’s Voice.
This disc will play right through using a modern 0.0025" conical stylus in a Shure M75 cartridge. But if you have an 0.002" Truncated Elliptical, that will give rather better results. (Hear some of it at https://youtu.be/acCiLzQzoys ) Video has extract of No. 25, then No.54. (See my other item!)
Discs this old & are now hoarded, more thanoffered for sale!
