The Berliner Gramophone disc was the world’s first example of a flat playable record – before this there were only cylinders. Any surviving discs are important historical artifacts and incredibly rare documents of early recorded sound.
This is disc number 3298, from the New York studio, and features alpine-style Tyrolean yodeling (misspelled as “yoodle” on the record). It features master yodeler Frank Graus, who would later lead the group The Tyrolean Alpine Yodelers to success in the early 1900s. This record is a very first pressing, as denoted by the lack of a suffix letter in the catalog number – and it may be very rare, since the two examples in the Berliner catalog are for the second and third pressings only (3198-Z and 3198-Y, respectively). Also, this title is not seen in the auction records, and is in very nice playable condition.

The record grades at V+ to E- on the VJM scale (or G+ to VG- on the Goldmine scale) with obvious surface wear, but no deep scratches and it looks to be completely playable. Please note that we are not able to play Berliner discs, so we are not able to play grade this disc.
