Up for auction is an E. Berliner Gramophone disc...78 RPM...7 inch...May 23, 1896

This record has no cracks or chips.

This was the first company to produce disc "gramophone records".  Until 1901 Berliner records had no labels, instead the necessary information was etched or impressed into the master.  Most pre-1901 records bear the exact date of recording.  These records were almost always single-sided. 

This record has a number of 640 imprinted...The title of record is "Pumpernickel As Judge"...By Geo. Graham.

This is the last of the Berliner records that were in my uncles estate...have not played as I do not own a gramophone or anything to play it on.
