Their con- certs take place in churches primarily and include all types of sacred songs, from classic oratorio selections to lively spirituals. Bette, a contralto, sings a wide range of songs and speaks to her audience in a relaxed and warm tone. Ed, a robust tenor, joins Bette in duets and adds comments of Christian experience. David Tyson is a Hammond artist with a sincere desire to project the singer rather than himself. He is an ordained Southern Baptist Minister of Music. Carol, his wife, has versatile musical talent. The sacred concert has become a way of life to these four. All equip- ment necessary for the most effective service is contained in their equipment vehicle. The ministry of sacred music completely embraces the purpose of Bette’s calling. Singing praises to God, she has performed in 38 states and abroad. United Press International heralded Bette as a forerunner in the revival of gospel music in America. The preparation for her purpose, both Spiritual and academic, has greatly influenced her wide acceptance. She accepted Christ at the age of nine and studied voice privately in Ripley, Tenn, with Mrs. Chesley Bowden until she entered Louisiana State University where she received her Masters Degree in voice. Revivals are of paramount interest in the team’s activities. Ed was a Southern Baptist Minister of Music for eight years and congregations and choirs sing enthusiastically under his capable leadership. His is the responsibility of intererary and promotion for the group. The Tysons have a daughter Leslie Carol, Bette and Ed have two sons, Rick and Loren. The children travel with them whenever possible.
