Description
Here's a rarity for collectors of Beverly Hills Country Club/Supper Club ephemera.
This is a live recording of Arthur Lee Simpkins on stage at Beverly Hills in 1960. (The date comes from an online listing of when Simpkins recorded the songs for Miranda Records.) He is backed by the house band, the Gardner Benedict Orchestra.
Simpkins was a semi-regular at Beverly Hills in the 1950s. I don't know how many records Miranda Records recorded at Beverly, but those still existing are a unique time capsule for the last years of Beverly, which closed in1961.
Both record and sleeve are in Excellent condition. The record has minor scratching and wear, but is well-cared for and plays very clearly.
For those Arthur Lee Simpkins fans who may not know about this club, Beverly Hills Country Club was one of the hottest nightclubs in the Cincinnati/Northern KY area through the 1950s until it closed in 1961, and located in Southgate, Kentucky. It reopened in the 1970s as the Beverly Hills Supper Club and burned down in 1977.
