Description

Artist for both LPs: Big Maybelle
LP #1 Title: Got a Brand New Bag
Side A: 96 Tears, Mellow Yellow, That's Life, There Must Be a Word, Ellenor Rigby (sic), Love is a Hurtin' Thing
Side B: I Can't Control Myself, Cabaret, Black is Black, Coming on Strong, Coming on Strong, Egg Plant that Ate Chicago, Turn The World Around the Other Way
Label: Rojac 1000 Mono
Year: 1967
Style: Northern Soul / Chicago Soul
Condition:
Sleeve: strong VG+: Most of the Shrink wrap is still on; only the slightest denting of corners & soiling-- NO seam splits, NO ringwear. BB hole in top left. Colors are bright and unfaded. Great!
Vinyl: Mint-: Almost unplayed-- I've played it maybe 4 times. No marks, no dust, looks and sounds beautiful (hear a clip below).

LP #2 Title: The Soul of Big Maybelle
Side A: Oh Lord, What Are You Doing To Me, Put Yourself In My Place, I Will Never Turn My Back On You, I Cried for You, Only You, I Won't Cry Anymore
Side B: Don't Let the Sun Catch You Cryin', I Know Love, I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself, In the Still of the Night, That's All, Same Old Story
Label: Scepter SLP-522 STEREO
Year: 1964
Style: Northern Soul / Chicago Soul
Condition:
Sleeve: strong G: The bottom of the sleeve suffers from what looks like water damage-- part of another cover pressed against it stuck to the sleeve. You might be able to remove it. Full seamsplit on bottom, spine is not in great shape either. That said, still a displayable sleeve.
Vinyl: G-: I've cleaned this LP but it has a lot of crackle... especially towards the beginning of each side.

Trying to cut down my LP collection a bit so I'm offering up two LPs for the price of one! The first LP, Brand New Bag, is in terrific condition-- I bought it on eBay years ago, still factory sealed. For whatever reason, I only played it a couple of times so it's virtually unplayed. Maybelle does some cool covers on it, particularly of Donovan, the Beatles and Question Mark & the Mysterians (the awesome version of 96 Tears). Pretty darn cool record, but I've got it on the ipod now so it's time to go.

The second LP I'm kind of throwing in for free- it's not in great shape but it's one of Big Maybelle's rarest 60's LPs-- a one-off on Scepter. This is the rarer stereo version (Brand New Bag is mono). Like I said it's not in great shape but a copy in VG+ is going to set you back $50 or more. As far as I know, both LPs are completely out of print, so this is the only legit format you can get them in.

Sample clip1: 96 Tears (from Brand New Bag)

Sample clip2: I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself (from Soul of)
