"A-1" means this was an absolute first pressing from fresh pristine master tapes so this thing sounds AWESOME!
I am selling off my entire Rock and Roll record collection that I have been collecting for over 30 years. Up for bid is a super rare MONO version of the Portrait In Jazz by what I consider to be the greatest Jazz pianist of all time! As you know, all of Riverside records mono releases were dedicated mono mixes, meaning they are entirely different from the flat, tiny, echoey, and lifeless stereo mixes!
Sound Quality: This is a fantastic sounding mix and it sounds fantastic! You all know that the 50's and 60's vinyl pressings are the way to go and the recording, mastering, quality, and sound are FANTASTIC! You won't find this stuff anymore. Just take a listen for yourself like I did.
Condition: I grade according to Goldmine standards. That means a VG+ vinyl will be just that, an LP that is in beautiful condtion! I am very picky when it comes to grading and grade to Goldmine standards. I absolutely hate it when dealers ameliorate the condition of the vinyl!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially when I am the buyer!! All my Lp's have been stored in my house upright on a shelf in an air conditioned and dry environment, meaning no warping, staining or mildew!
The cover is a definite VG with ring wear on the front and back cover. The top has feathered and most of the paper has gone but it still is closed and fully split because the glue is still holding the front and back covers together. The bottom is also the same with most of the paper feathered off about 75%. The spine is about 50% feathered off. The back cover has tape residue on the bottom corners and "4.98" and "199" written on the top corners. Otherwise no holes, rips or tears. But really, who cares about the cover, it's the music that counts right? The vinyl is a definite VG and has been well played. Why not, the music is incredible! Numerous scuffs, scratches and hairlines, but no deep scratches that affect the play. I've listened to this thing literally 10 times and it plays absolutely fantastically! No loud pops or screechiness. Just pure mono analog sound! The original midnight blue Riverside labels are gorgeous! Just a few spindle marks. This record literally plays VG+.
