Description
a very nice copy of Bill Evan's Waltz for Debbie, Riverside RLP 399, 1st issue, graded VG+ but less than NM minus Last recording by Scott LaFaro who died in 1961.
[ ( NM ) NEAR MINT = VINYL nearly perfect, no obvious signs of wear. COVER should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes.
( VG+ ) VERY GOOD PLUS = VINYL may have scuff marks , very light scratches and signs of some wear but will still play almost perfectly, with only barely detectable crackles or pops; a slight noise at the beginning is allowable. COVER may only have the slightest signs of normal wear.]
This is a live recording so there is some background sounds, glasses clinking, people talking, Motian is a bit heavy on the brushes which can sound like surface noise and his symbols have attachments that add extra vibrations also adding to what might sound like surface noise. This disc is quiet ( to my ears) , no scratches. Record grading is fairly subjective depending on equipment, ears, and other things. I use a standard pair of headphones I think this disc is better than VG+ but I'm starting there. I turn up the volume as loud as I can stand when listening)The cover has a bend in the upper left corner--see pic, there is some edgewear top and bottom--see pic and a bit of surface rubbing. NO RESERVE.
Shipping weight is 1 pound 4 ounces media mail is very well padded container.
" US Riverside and Jazzland pressing can be prone to surface noise even when clean, suspicion of lower quality vinyl or pressing plant." from the london jazz collector website.
