Description
Here are two of Bill Fontana's SF Bay Area-based environmental, ambient records. I have sold "Landscape Sculpture with Fog Horns" before, but this is the first time I have found "Sounds of the Bay Area". Put out by Bay Area public radio station KQED in 1982 and 1983 respectively. These are complicated recordings to make as Fontana set up microphones all over the Bay and then time synched them to get the real feel of being there. I have rated the vinyl VG mostly because these recordings are full of quiet sections as you wait for the mics to pick up something so the surface noise is noticeable in some places. Both records have been through the MK II spin cleaner and might benefit from repeated play--I only played them once after cleaning.
