I have always had a strong admiration for all Soul music, but there are few albums that manage to instil me with as much awe as 'Still Bill' does. I had spent many years searching for an original copy of this album. I finally managed to obtain one (this copy) from a specialist Soul enthusiast, who was very reluctant to let go of it.
I have collected many albuns over the years, but for some reason this was one of the hardest for me to track down. Today, you will see plenty of reissues - but rarely will you see an original copy. Therefore, i understand that this item is of particular interest to rare Soul/Funk collectors, and record collectors in general. A genuine must-have.
Record sleeve - G: as you can see, the cover has some foxing and storage wear around the edges, with some creasing in areas (particularly on the right fold-out). Some tearing towards the very top (around 1cm or so in depth). Obviously this does show signs of wear that is consummate with age. However, structurally speaking, it is still in useable order and it still maintains the basic aesthetic. Spine is reasonably legible. Please study the images provided - you will see that it is certainly not 'mint', but still workable and fine for most collectors. Graded as 'G'.
Record surface - VG: The playing surface maintains a nice sheen, and you can tell that it is a quality pressing. A nice deep lustre throughout. Hairlines and other sleeve removal marks seen under bright light. Labels are reasonably clean with relatively little spindle wear. There are a few marks more noticeable to the eye which i have taken photos of - please see photos for reference. One mark (slightly feelable) on side 1 track 3 - although i have played over it a few times and found no major problems to my ear (some mild rotational ticking which doesnt really detract from the listening experience). A few non-feelable scuffs on side two which, again, do not cause too much trouble in terms of playback. Most blemishes are mainly cosmetic and dont affect playback at all. I have played the album all the way through. There were no sticks or skips on my turntable. Some mild surface noise (mainly between tracks) although this fades when the music kicks in. Of course, expect a tick here and there but, in the main, this is a reasonable and enjoyable playing copy. Great punchy sound and dynamic range throughout. Nice!
