Billie Holiday Debut Self-Titled LP UK Stateside Original 1963 [Vg+/Ex]

	£		40
	$		53

Description

The reissue of her debut would be one of the 1st releases on the new Stateside label in 1963 [originally recorded in the late 40's]. Note that the labels do NOT hold the 'Sold In The Uk..' blurb - which dates the record to '63. Matrix 1N/1N. Also the stampers are 1O/1O - so from one of the first batches on the new label. the heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original E J Day cover - spot on for 1963. We also have the original Emitex inner sleeve. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Vg+) In beautiful condition and has only seen relatively light use. Nice shiny surfaces. No signs of any nasty marks... anything visible will be low-level. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly VERYGOOD+ level of playback. There's a few crackles here and there - through. So, it's not a really clean copy. Given that the recordings are from the 40's maybe they weren't perfectly clean to start with. What I can tell you is that it is a very nice warm lush presentation. If you're very fussy on background - possibly give it a miss. All the ambience and the brilliance of this artist is still available here for the listener to enjoy.
Cover (Ex) An absolute belter of a cover. How many '63 E J Day covers look like this in 2021? A beautifully flat and clean front with just on miniscule surface crease. The rear is really is something to marvel at. Someone's certainly been very careful with it over the years. There's a touch of ageing on the flips - but the main body of the rear is totally unaged. A very difficult find I'd imagine. All flip-backs are perfectly intact. There's very little edge wear at all. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits.
