*Because our clients are mostly jazz collectors and connoisseurs, as we are, we made it our policy to only sell vinyl that we grade in VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) condition or better. This vinyl is in our opinion a VG++, looks and plays great.

Record Grade VG+ = ONE OWNER. Very well maintained. Just listened to both sides of the whole album and it plays beautiful. We only listened to it a handful of times and the vinyl looks awesome. Little to no surface noise at all. A few minor surface scratches from playing the record that have no effect on music. No skips or jumps. Difficult to find this rare vintage mono promo release recording in such nice condition. (see pictures) 

Jacket Grade VG+ = Very well maintained. We kept it on our shelf in plastic cover all these years. No staining. NO Writing. A tiny bit of corner dents from normal shelf use. A very clean jacket for a 56 year old album. (see pictures)

These famous recordings, "The Billie Holiday Story", dating from 1944-1950 and produced by Milt Gabler, represent the full ripening of Billie's prodigious talent.

Holiday recorded for Decca between 1944 and 1950, a period in which she was at the heights of both her popularity and her vocal powers. The music is less jazz-oriented in its backing than were the earlier Columbia and Commodore or later Verve recordings, but these are superb vocal performances, including matchless renderings of "Lover Man," "Don't Explain," and "Solitude." Holiday's deepest musical sources are strongly evident in songs associated with Bessie Smith, including the earthy "Gimme a Pigfoot (and a Bottle of Beer)," and two spirited duets with Louis Armstrong.
