Description
Billy Joel’s debut album, “Cold Spring Harbor,” released in 1971 by Family Productions (catalog number FPS-2700), marked the beginning of his illustrious career. The album, named after a Long Island town, showcases Joel’s early songwriting and performing talents. Notably, it underwent a remix in 1983 to correct the pitch of Joel’s vocals and enhance the overall sound quality, including some changes to the tracks. Despite these modifications, Joel expressed dissatisfaction with the album’s sound quality in later years. “Cold Spring Harbor” includes tracks such as “She’s Got a Way” and “Everybody Loves You Now,” reflecting Joel’s distinctive piano rock and singer-songwriter style. This album, while not an immediate commercial success, gained attention after Joel’s subsequent albums, like “Piano Man,” became popular. The Family Productions label with the catalog number FPS-2700 is the first pressing of Billy Joel’s “Cold Spring Harbor” album. This first edition, released in 1971, is known for its original mix and distinct features that differentiate it from later reissues and remasters of the album.
